A Celebration Of Endings – Biffy Clyro
I’ll prefix this recommendation with the fact that I am a Biffy super fan. Infinity Land is in my top 10 albums of all time, after all. I’ve also seen them live at least 15 times over the years too!
Now, I could be a dickhead and say “the old stuff was better”, which is sorta true. Biffy rightly and deservedly enjoyed a lot of commercial success—and still do—so some of the albums that got released in the 2010s was a bit, mild. That doesn’t take anything away from the quality of the band as a whole though. Blackened Sky, Vertigo of Bliss and Infinity Land are elite albums and that’s just my personal favourite era, but even with large commercial success, they still put out quality music.
Speaking of which, A Celebration Of Endings gets us back towards that favourite era of mine. The production on the album is massive, it’s much heavier than the last few albums and the songwriting is nothing short of stunning. It’s up there with those three excellent older albums in my opinion. Simon Neil singing “bullshit” in his Glaswegian accent will never get old too.
